Authentication on Atlassian customer portals

This page describes the ways to authenticate on customer portal for both the Atlassian Cloud and Atlassian Data Center versions.

Atlassian Cloud

Atlassian SSO

You can log in to the portal before starting the chat with your virtual assistant. If you have a Jira account, just use the single sign-on:

  1. Go to the Help Center of your project.

  2. Click Log in in the upper right of the window and type your email.

  3. Once you are offered to log in with the single sign-on, click the associated button.

When you are logged in to the portal, the Chat with virtual assistant button appears. To start interacting with Koji, click this button.

Email access

If you are not logged in, you can still start chatting with the virtual assistant on the portal. However, as the assistant does not know who you are yet, it asks your email and creates you a customer account. After that, all your activity on the portal is done via this email/account.

1. Go to the Help Center of your project.

2. Click Chat with virtual assistant right away.

3. Follow the assistant’s instructions — it will guide you through the registration.

Once you type your email, the bot creates an account for you. After that, you are ready to interact with Koji.

Anonymous access

Anonymous access on the portal requires a few settings.

Anonymous user

Once you have installed the app, you can find “Anonymous Kbot User” in the list of customers. Such a user is created automatically and it is required to support anonymous access on the portal.

Enabling anonymous access

To allow anonymous access on the portal:

1. Go to Project settings > Customer permissions.

2. In the Service project access section, select Anyone on the web (without logginп in).

3. Click Save.

4. Click Settings in the upper right of the window and select Products.

5. Select Configuration on the left side of the window.

6. In the Customer permissions section, enable the customers to access and send requests from the help center without logging in.

Data Center

No anonymous access

Data Center does not allow anonymous users. Thus, they have to either log in, or create an account.
